Slime Speedway includes a base roster of 40 playable racers from various Nicktoons, with two additional characters available as downloadable content.[2] Character karts can be customized using a variety of different parts, each of which affects the kart's gameplay statistics such as speed or handling. While each kart body was tied to a specific character in the previous games, Slime Speedway allows any character to use any kart body.[2] In addition to karts, characters can now ride bikes as well.[1] The game features 36 race tracks, 16 of which return from the previous game.[2] New racers, pit crew and vehicle parts can be unlocked by winning cups in Slime Scramble, completing challenges, or purchasing them with slime tokens at the in-game garage. Slime Speedway supports both four-player local split-screen multiplayer and online multiplayer for up to 12 players.[1]
Here we are, the third in the line of Nickelodeon themed kart racers on the Switch. Nickelodeon has always existed in the game sphere, but licensed games have honestly really taken a backseat since mobile gaming has grown. It did take a bit, but Nick has slowly eased into giving their games more and more budget and time lately. Nothing showcases this more than the evolution of the Nick Kart Racers series.
Moreover, I was impressed by the number of characters the developers were able to squeeze in. First, there were forty characters in the roster and unlike some other kart racers, each was unique and distinct. I could play as anyone from Reptar to Powdered Toast Man. It felt good to have so many options available.
Still, the inclusion of items overall made the game far more enjoyable. These items all seemed familiar to those seen in other kart racers I have played, but that was not necessarily an issue. I would have liked to see more innovative and interesting items, but the items available did help differentiate the gameplay and reward me for learning how to use them. 59ce067264
