During a party in the nightclub, the killer then reveals the corpses of his previous victims to the guests, causing a panic. Juan returns to join Lars and Jenny, with the killer's machete in his hand. Penelope, Juan, Lars and Jenny find Sam's body in a mud bath. While they consider their next move, Sam leaps from the bath and snatches his machete from Lars, revealing himself as the killer. He grabs Lars before revealing his motive: Pete had intended to sell the island, but ultimately decided to give the island to Dave, who Sam assumed would mismanage the resort and destroy it, instead of him. Lars grabs the machete, allowing the others to escape. Jenny and Juan lock themselves in the nightclub. They see Sam drowning Penelope in a large tank. Juan smashes the tank and rescues Penelope. Sam prepares to kill them, but Lars appears and stabs Sam.
The leader of the troupe and director of both films is Jay Chandrasekhar, whose character in \"Super Troopers\" took delight in spreading confusing hints about his ethnic origin. Here he's the dreadlocked Indian (or perhaps British or Caribbean) tennis instructor, whose serve is so powerful that at one point he actually tries to kill the slasher by hitting balls at him.
When a serial killer interrupts the fun at the swanky Coconut Pete's Coconut Beach Resort -- a hedonistic island paradise for swingers --- it's up to the club's staff to stop the violence ... or at least hide it!
A genuinely funny spoof of horror movies that actually works in some actual horror and dread (and dreads too). The story is not terribly original, which is probably why it's not more well liked, but all slashers follow the same pattern anyway.
While all of Broken Lizard are talented comics a couple members of the troupe are emerging as the funniest. Jay Chandrasekhar, (he also directed this movie and Super Troopers) plays a dreadlocked British tennis instructor with hilarious results and Kevin Heffernan as Lars is the closest thing to a 'Curly' the group has.
With that out of the way, what's in this new Unrated Version that isn't in the R-rated version released by Fox not all that long ago In a nutshell, not really all that much. The film clocks in at fourteen minutes longer than its theatrically screened counterpart and after watching this unrated cut, one has to wonder what exactly would have been chopped from this version to keep it out of the dreaded NC-17 category There's only slightly more gore, a couple of black and white shots that accent some of the action, a bit more subplot/characterization, and a new storyline worked in that involves a pair of police visiting from off of the island. The sex and violence ante isn't upped much at all in this version, despite the blurb on the back that states this version is 'sexier' and 'scarier.' It just seems like most of this material was cut by the filmmakers to keep the running time down, rather than to avoid any problems with the censors.
Most of what the rear channels are used for in this Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound track is background music, but there are some jungle noises and club noises in a few scenes that come at you from some interesting angles. Dialogue is never a problem to understand and the channel separation is pretty distinct and clean sounding. When those jump scares happen during the movie this mix makes sure that you know it by properly boosting the volume just a tiny bit to make the moment a little more effective. Optional subtitles are available in English and Spanish, and there is an English closed captioning selection as well.
But maintaining a strong club program can be difficult. Getting support from parents can sometimes be problematic (and other times, parents can become too invested in what is happening on the field or in the gym). As much as they are committed to the kids and club activities, overworked teachers serving as club advisors can find it difficult to remain focused on these kinds of activities after school hours. And sometimes the existence of the clubs themselves can become a political football. 781b155fdc
